Help with a H&R 1871 Handi Rifle

Need some help with my new, one month old Handi Rifle which fell from a rack at my local range and hit the plastic trigger guard on the way down which caused it to snap off. Does anyone know where I can get a new trigger guard from to replace the broken plastic one?

Any advise you can give would be much appreciated.

I have bought through them and was satisfied - don't expect it to be in stock though.

As for the plastic part in question, perhaps there is a metal equivalent available - worth the research IMO.

There is no metal equivalent that is properly spec'ed for a drop-in fit... there are a couple aftermarket small piece manufacturers in the USA... neither ship to Canada and the cost and wait time is generally prohibitive... as much as I dislike plastic parts, I can honestly say that this is the first time I have heard of an H&R trigger guard breaking.

I have seen pics and vid of H&Rs that have had a custom trigger guard installed.

Thanks everyone for the advise on getting a replacement, I am going to call them today.

Here are pictures of my broken trigger guard, luckily the rifle was not damaged in any other way, not even a scratch, it was not a long fall and the trigger guard absorbed all the damage. I must say that the plastic part does not seem very substantial, and I'm surprised others have not had similar damage happen to them, I would much prefer a metal trigger guard.

I have been wanting to replace the plastic guards on my handy rifles. If I find a good source for parts that is Canadian friendly I'll report back.

Problem is the plastic part that holds the trigger in alignment inside the trigger guard also shattered into little pieces which got lost in the snow.

Well contacted the warranty repair place above (nice people to deal with) and they are sending me a new one under warranty after confirming that it is still in warranty (don't forget to go online when you get one and register it with the company for warranty). I also asked if they have many other people contacting them about broken trigger guards and they did say that there has been a few lately because of the cold, apparently when it is very cold the plastic trigger guard becomes brittle and becomes fragile. It was -20 the day I was at the range, so that explains why it broke so easily.
