I was help a buddy move the other day and when we were cleaning out a closet we found this old "Industry brand QB-78".

It appears to be a Co2 gun but i dont know how to load the Co2 into it or what size of Co2 to use.

if anyone could let me know i would say thanks.

P.s just for giggle does anyone know the aprox value of this pellet rifle?

It takes 12g cartridges, but in a less than conventional way. Loaded through the cap at the front of the lower tube (like a crosman) but 2 cartridges instead of one (there might be a moddified cap with an extension rod to properly seat just one.) they are inserted with the first one neck first and the second with the neck towards the cap.

found a video if you need the visual.

The QB-78 series is a copy of the old Crosman 160/167 series rifles. They are well made, and can be "tuned" to be very good rifles for cheap.

You can get new ones for about $125 Canadian. Excellent value, and the 22 versions are the most effective for hunting and power. The 177 versions are great plinkers.

If you are loading the CO2 cartridges into the tube, make sure the pointed ends go outwards, and the two rounded ends touch each other. Lift the bolt to the rear before loading the CO2 cartridges, put them in, screw the cap on, twist the cap counter-clockwise slightly, and you should hear a release of pressure within the tube. Move the bolt forward with NO pellet in the breach, and then fire into a safe direction. This should pierce the second cartridge. Now shoot away by loading pellets, and moving the bolt forward and down.

If you need a copy of the manual, fire me a PM and your email address and I'll scan my copy and send it off to you.

That middle piece is a gasket not a seal. The o-ring should seal the tube. If it's still leaking, use some soapy water to find out where. If it's leaking around the screw on the endcap, try some divers grease on the seal.

Love my QB-79, I think the QBs are excellent rifles for the money. All steel and wood, and a fair bit of zip with just a little tuning.

Any CO2 gun suffers a little in temperatures under about 15C, but then...my rimfires are in their glory by then anyway. :)
