Okay.
Super newb question here. I have never had a scope on a rifle before. I have had lots of rifles, but none with optics. I have a Nikon Monarch UCC 3x-9x 40mm scope that I want to put on a rifle. The question I have relates to the scope. On the side with the eyepiece (opposite the objective), there is a ring that you can turn to choose the magnification. On this ring there is a screw on the nub that you push to turn the ring setting the magnification. The ring is hard to turn, does the screw adjust the tension? I have tried loosening and tightening the screw, and it seems to make no difference to how hard I have to push to turn the magnification ring. Am I supposed to oil this thing or something? Or am I out to lunch?
Thanks in advance for your help!
