Hi guys
Im a left handed shooter and just bought my first shotgun....
Beretta a400 xplor light

Has anyone done the cast and drop adjustments themselves?

Need help with a few things...
1) i looked at the manual and the first step is to take off the kickoff with a philips screwdriver... However the two holes in the kickoff are way too small for any screwdriver.... I dont want to ruin the rubber butt plate.

2) what does one have to look at to figure out the proper drop adjustment?

Wll appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction

Use a bit of grease or the old standby, saliva and the driver will slip right in :) and not ruin the rubber. When your gun is mounted to your cheek it should be such that your eye is looking right down the barrel.

You may have to experiment with a few drop and cast combinations til you get what is best fit for you.

I like to mount the comb to my cheek with a certain amount of firmess that leaves me seeing a bit of rib and the front bead. If the rib has a center bead I like to see the top of the mid bead just under the bottom of the front bead. That's where I start.

Depending on how the gun patterns I may alter the comb adjustments til I get the gun to shoot where I look.

I usually only use the sight picture to guide me to a proper mount and I practice enough to get the feel of a proper mount memorized.
