Help with BOSS

Hey I just got a Browing A boltII in 338 Win Mag and it has the Boss on it. I sighted it in and I am shooting Federal 225gr factory ammo but cant get a decent group out of it. I have adjusted the Boss up and down and seen some improvement but I am wondering if anyone can tell me where they have their Boss set? Maybe it doesnt like the ammo. I am gonna load some Sierra 215gr Gamekings and try again but any help would be appreciated.:)
 
Keep adjusting Boss until you believe it will shoot better, if you believe enough, it will be. The Boss system was designed to increase the cost of a rifle and provide a psychological boost to shooters.
 
Contrary to ben's opinion the BOSS does work even though it is as ugly as hell.

If you can't get it to shoot well going through a box of ammo it is just possible your rifle just doesn't like that particular load.

250 Fed 6.75
230 Win 5.25
225 Fed 5.25
210 Fed 4.00
200 Win 3.25

They claim you can tune your rifle to any ammo, my experience, although not with .338, has been its much easier with some loads than others. Further, and you may or may not want to hear this;), many times it is easier to tweek a load for accuracy by handloading than fiddling with the BOSS.

But don't give up just yet, buy a different box of ammo!:)
 
Thanks guys. It was my first time shooting it and I picked up a box of ammo from crappy tire and figured I would get er ballpark and then start handloading. I am gonna load 215gr Sierra Gamekings and if it doesnt group with those then I'm gonna be pissed. I did ring a little over MOA on one group today but I was expecting better. Oh well keep playing I guess.
 
I've seen a couple of rifles @ the range w/the Boss thingy on it.

Not my cup of tea, and bloody loud, but those rifles COULD shoot!
