help with british proof mark

Just wondering if any one can tell me about this proof mark.

It is a crown, over the number 50, under that the letter "E" under that the Roman numeral II. It is placed right above the grip by the hammer.

It is a S&W 455 2nd model hand ejector. Made about 1916

I checked the british proof marks I found none that
match. Could it be a Canadian mark?

Viewing mark

From your description, it sounds like it is an Enfield Viewing (Inspection) mark. A good picture would help.
