in reality a bt99 goes for aprox $1200 and your second barrel would make it worth $1500-1600 and your case would probably set it up to be a $2000 set would it not? I take it they are fixed full barrels and no one has tampered with them.

Barrel choke marks are as follows:
(*) = Full (*-) = IM (**) = MOD (**-) = IC (**$) = SK (***) = CYL
and, cut and pasted from the internet:
Date Historic Information Serial Number Info
1968-75 1969 started using two digits for the date of manufacture and the following code:
D=BT-99
The serial number began with 1000 for each year.
Example: 0001D69 = A 1969 BT-99 shotgun with a serial number of 0001. D=BT-99

1976-Present In 1976 Browning re-standardized its serial number identification. The BT-99 was discontinued in 1995.
1. Serial Number
beginning with 01001
at the start of each year.
2. Date of Manufacture
is a two digit code Z=1
Y=2
X=3
W=4
V=5
T=6
R=7
P=8
N=9
M=0
Serial
Number Example:
01001RT149

This would be an BT-99 shotgun, manufactured in 1976 with the serial number 01001.

3. Determining Tang Style
The BT-99 has been manufactured with 2 "Tang Styles"

Long Tang
Short Tang
All BT-99 shotguns produced from 1968 through 1995 were equipped with a "Long Tang" trigger guard. All BT-99 shotguns produced from 2001 through the present are equipped with a "Short Tang" trigger guard. Please see figure 1-B for help determining "Long" and "Short" tang.

:sok2:sok2 Good lord!! Where have you been getting $400-$500 for those cases? They aren't even that much new and two barrel set is not going to fetch $1500-$1600 anytime soon.

Without trying to be insulting, with the 32" barrel that's about an $800.00 gun, with the second barrel and case you'll probably get about $1000.00 for it (Spank is right about the case, it's hard to get even $100 for a used one. for $400/$500 you're into a Negrini case). If you list it on the EE for $1800.00/$2000.00 my guess is you'll set a new record for "BTT's" before it actually sells. The BT99 is a great gun, when I was looking for one I found several in the $800/$900 range.

Don't agree on the case Guys that know them and want them for a vintage shotgun will pay $200 in good condition and $1000 is too cheap for the lot shown IMO
I would start at $1400 and go down from there
Cheers

That BT-99 set would be a screaming bargain at $1k, assuming it's tight and lever well right of centre.
$1400 is more likely.
I don't see any decent cases at $100, but $400 is nuts.
3Macs1 beat me to it, as I was typing.

Those old browning cases as you say in good condition are hard to find in my neck of the woods
It took me quite a while to find one for a two barrel superx1 I have
Christ the shipping to get it here was like 75 bucks also
Cheers

I guess I was not directly meaning it would get $400-500. It is worded like that when I re read it tho. BTW guys that say there $800 have not been shopping on the EE here I have not seen anything go for little money like that in the last year couple years.
