For a 180 in a .308 I'd probably just load up some Remington bulk bullets.

One of the nice things about the TSX/TTSX is that they do open reliably to 1.5 caliber at lower velocities, but If I was to choose a TSX bullet for the .308 I would probably drop the weight to 150-165 for a bit more velocity.

I don't mind the 180's for the .308 - especially with 4064 or some of the new powders like RL17. Having said that, I would use a 150gr TTSX.

In the 308 I would shoot the 165 TSX or NPT. 180 is too much bullet for the 308.

I've got to dissagree with that; I've shot more big game with 180gr partitions in a 308 that with any other bullet.

Not that you really need it of course, but there's nothing wrong with a 180 in a .308.

I'd go with the accubond in your rifle.

Not much difference between the 165 and 180 gr accubonds with Nosler's data. In my experience you can add about 75 fps to their 165 gr load data and around 100 fps to their 180 gr load data for real world maximum loads, which makes the 165's and 180's basically indistinguishable, except for getting a little tiny bit more penetration from the 180's.

I voted Accubond, but all those bullets are more tough than necessary for a .308 shooting a 180 grain bullet. Just about any old bullet will do out of a .308 when using 180 grainers.

Thanks fellow shooters and hunters.

You got me so interested in Barnes so I ordered a box of both TTSX 168 gr and 180 gr for my .308 (barrel twist 1:11) and for my .375 HH (1:12) a box of TTSX 250 gr.

I have used Accubond 180 gr and 260 gr with good results last years. But it will be fascinating to try something new again.
