Found a pretty nice load for my 243, 100grn Seirra. Now I want to try and play with the COL to see if I can fine tune it abit. Min COL is 2.65" and OAL is 2.71". My question is this, How much do you move the length up? I was thinking .01" at a time!?! Thanks in advance for any info and tips!!

.01 or .005 at at time works for me. If your rifle is a remington 700, I generally load 308 based cases to the magazine length of 2.805. I've only loaded 260 and 308, but I've never reached the lands.

I would try at least .005" at a time. Unless you're measuring your lengths off the ogive with a comparator, the nose of your bullets can vary by at least that much anyway.

As Martin says, be sure you don't go too long or they won't work in the magazine of your rifle (if it's a mag fed rifle)

Yes I agree 100% , I had a bad experience with my hunting rifle a rem 700 270 they fit fine in the chamber chambered great and extracted not to bad. However I shot a deer with it it fell down and i thougth it was dead, as i was in my tree stand i heard it flopping around so i decided to unload my rifle and climb down as I pulled the bolt back to unload it suck a bit and next think i knew, I was covered with spilling powder and a full case that i had loaded after the first shot, and with no bullet in it, and worse the bullet stuck in the barrel, not good!
Not saying you will have this problem but when hunting its MURPHYS LAW all the way, Yep 8-10 years back I wont make that mistake with a hunting rifle trying to squeek an extra 1/4 moa of it. The is always a plice to pay i find with hunting rifles lol!

@ JasonYuke: Sounds like you had that bullet way way into the lands, and no crimp, right?

I did that once myself LOL
