Help with etractor 700 5r 6.5 cm

I been out of the building world since kids came into my life so some help would be greatly appreciated. My new to me 5r is having trouble with federal non typical 6.5cm the bolt just won't turn down. I think it's either the ammo or extractor. I tried one other brand I have it cycles just fine with it.. I am located in edmonton ab does any one know where I could get a new extractor also maybe get this bolt fluted.. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and offer any advice
 
Some brass has more bevel on the rear edge and slips into the extractor more easily. You may have to polish the bevel on the bolt nose and extractor to accept 'flat' brass.
 
I ordered a new extractor I will start there.. it seems to take a swipe out of the brass on the primer side of the ejection groove on all cases ... It's probably timed right and the nose has zero wear on the factory finish.
 
Does it extract the cartridges? If it does it's the cartridge not fitting the chamber, not the extractor.
If it doesn't extract, try giving it a good slam home and see if it will turn then.
 
I just twisted the extractor and there is a big kink in the one side ..removed the extractor everything fits nice. Bolt is smooth now I think it's just that I'm hoping..

It extract every time it was just hard to turn up and down
 
In Edmonton, try Rod Hendrickson. I had issues with a Rem700 extractor. It would eject about half the shells you run through it. He cleaned it up for me while I was waiting there. Took all of 10minutes with a buffer/dremel. Priced right as well for the repair. Much cheaper and easier

Exactly - a quick easy inexpensive adjustment if you know what you are doing...
 
Took it into the Smith today he said it's caused by overpressure factory loads... Does anyone know where I can borrow a creedmoor guage to check for myself???

How does not being able to feed properly with one type have anything to do with over pressure loads? You’re having trouble getting one specific type in, not having trouble getting it out, correct?
 
I know this... he also said the 6.5 is a useless cartridge and it's dying.. He had no gauge and wanted me to front the cash to make one. The problem im having is new cases are really tight on the shoulder and it seems the headspace it just a hair too tight
 
With once fired brass it's runs flawlessly.. I'm not sure if this 5r is just that tight to spec that I have to prep brass that's why I want to check with a headspace gauge . My rem sp 223 is sloppy bolt compared to this 5r... he said it's safe to use it tho
 
This sounds so odd to me. Why would it feed once fired brass easier than factory brass? Unless it has a very short throat and that particular load is jamming into the lands.
 
That's exactly what I'm thinking the shoulder or throat had the issue not the ammo... I know it's something in the chamber maybe burs right in the shoulder itself in the chamber

How sloppy the bolt is has nothing to do with headspace either.
 
It's not dirty... I don't know if it's head space issues or ammo issues.. I think it's out some where..I'm hearing of oblong barrells from factory as well maybe it's that. I trying to source a gauge
