Hey CGN,

I am a proud and happy owner of a Stag Model 10 in .308Win

I have some nice irons on it and that is the only way I have ever shot this gun, and pretty much every other gun I have ever owned in the last 10 years lol

I am really wanting to put a Primary Arms 1-6x Raptor on it that uses the ACSS recticle that is FFP

The mount I am wanting to use is the "American Defense "Recon" mount

The Questions I have are...

- Do I need a 20MOA mount version? Is there any negatives to having a 20MOA mount if one isn't "needed"?

- Will this mount hold up okay on an AR10 firing .308Win or should I get a more beefier model?

- Will this mount/scope combo clear a folded rear iron sight?

Now about the scope itself...it is FFP model and the only scopes I have ever shot where SFP so the question/concern I have with this is...

Shooting FFP on 1x the recticle is quite small, and you cannot quickly or easily see the chevron tip aiming point rather you seem to aim and shoot with the larger horseshoe instead which is something like 40 MOA when on 6x...does this effect short range accuracy from 0-150 yards? I know it is supposed to be FAST but does accuracy suffer doing it this way? Can you still make precise hits on 1x at moderate ranges? Say 10" paper plates, what I commonly use are targets from point blank to 150 yards.

Thanks for the help and I hope it all make sense, before I drop over $1000 on this set up I just wanted to make sure I am all good!!!

While I'm not familiar with that scope, FFP lets you range at any power, that said, in my experience, using a scope in the 1-4, 1-6, 1-8 range, and using the reticle or bullet drop compensator (BDC) is what makes it faster and fairly accurate, if your BDC is tuned to you rifles spec's. Distance shooting will vary for different shooters? do some research on the reticle and your chosen load, and the type of shooting your most likely to engage in?

ADM mounts are pretty solid, and have a good reputation. The "top end" of the .308rd is 800m, so take that into account with respect to the kind of shooting you expect to engage in.
