Help with Identification.

Got an old SXS with the following markings.
Can't find anything on Joseph G Tickell

Anyone?

Well, it is a Belgian gun made after 1894 and no later than 1902.

I'd say that Mr Tickell lived either in Canada or the USA. Here in UK we do not go in for naming people using their middle initials. It's a nice-looking 12 gauge piece anyhow.

The gauge in a diamond is after 1898 to narrow it down some more

A man by that name was born in Birmingham England around 1855 and emigrated to the US in 1891. In the 1900 census he was recorded as a silversmith living in Providence RI.
In the 1910 census he was recorded as a foreman in a silver factory, same place.
His record shows he died in Toronto in 1926 at 72 years of age.

This information is from a very quick search on a genealogical website. I make no claim that this person was the owner of that shotgun but he does seem to be an interesting candidate.

I'm wondering what you are even asking/wondering?

He didn't ask about the trigger. It was about the name plate on the rifle..and I bet he just grabbed it from the closet to get a few pics. Why take the trigger guard off? What info would that add?
