On my No. 1 Mark III, the lowest elevation number on the rear sight is 200 yards. The notch will actually move lower than this setting; does that mean that the rifle should be accurate at a point of aim of 50 or 100 yards?
Similarly for the Number 4 with the micrometer or movable marked plate sights, the lowest elevation shown is 200 yards. The marked unit will move a bit lower; does this mean that the rifle should be accurate to pont of aim at 50 or 100 yards?
Ammunition used is Remington UMC or Mark VIIZ ball, 174 grain FMJ. Today with the Number 1, I seemed to be hitting low at 50 and 100 yards with a dead-center point of aim. The front sights on both rifles are staked in place.
