hi everyone,

so after purchasing so many handguns and shotguns... i finally feel like its time
to get my first ar/m4 rifle.

i am trying to do my own research, but i always got the right answer/answers every time
i asked for help on this forum so i hope you guys can do it again for me. :)

so i am looking at;

daniel defense
bushmaster
core 15

those are the major 3 i am looking at and my price is around 1000 to 1500. now from what i understand,
people are saying that all models(base models for example all the way up to the higher end models) have the
same lower and top receivers... what makes them exceptionally different from each other is the bells and whistles
added on the frame... is this true? in which case, i am thinking of buying the lower end model and then upgrading
from that point.

it seems core 15 has the lowest price model, and from an aesthetic point, it looks alright... but i never shot one
and don't know how well it shoots(or should shoot compared to other ar). keep in mind when i said aesthetic, i dont
mean the guy should look cool... though that helps ;) ... but i meant that it looks of good quality, just cant tell if it is.

i found one group of people saying the daniel defense m4 is an overpriced rifle, nicknamed the daniel delay for its
tight tolerance and jamming problems... however, everyone else seemed to hold them very high in the tier list picking
them over bushmaster and the same people claiming they never heard of core 15.

bushmaster always seemed like the middle ground interms of quality. great quality, however, their consistency with
batches were off.

now i am not expecting my gun to not have any jams(i expect a few when breaking it in) so i wont worry about that
unless it still jams after cleanings, lubing and after a few hundred rounds. my main concern is which is a good quality
AR that i can mod like crazy and expect to work after breaking it in. :)

thanks for your help, guys!

I have a DDM4V5 and I cant say anything but good things about it. Hasn't had a single hiccup yet with any ammo or any mag. Only thing that some have to say about the DD is it prefers heavier bullets with its 1:7 twist.
The fit and finish to me stands out over the other 2 choices, all though it is at the very top of your $1500 budget you set.

is there any difference that i will seriously notice between the v7 and v5?

thanks a lot you guys! i always appreciate the honesty and fast feedback. its awesome!

V5 has the quad rail so you can mount things on all four sides, even if you dont plan on making it tacticool, you can still attach a simple grip on bottom. Im not sure how V7 works, it doesnt appear to have rails on all four sides. I would go with the V5.

Edit: The V7 has a small piticanny rail on all four sides at the end to mount stuff like lights/grips. But again I like the V5 hence my purchase.

V7 is a lighter hand guard model with the option to attach rail sections if need be. It's the style you will see a lot in 3 gun and other competitions where they are running it slick and fast just holding the hand guard. ( from what I've observed at least)

Ok. Here is my set up. It took a while to get everything together, but that was half the fun. I hope it gives you an idea and what kind of money that you can spend, on the low end, and still get yourself a "shooter."
Remember, you cant buy accuracy.

16'' DPMS Upper.
NEA Muzzle Break.
12'' Free Float Tube Hand Guard
Norc Lower
Ambi Charging Handle
BAD Lever
Black Hawk Single Point Sling
Vortex 2x7x35 Scope.

Total price in is approx. $1200.

I got myself a Core15 gas piston, it function flawlessly, also several bushmaster over the pass few year, and one really stand out is the Latest midlength system, this rifle balance very nice to me, also flawless with all type of ammo ranging from 556 to 223, if you looking at getting an AR15, you should do some research into the Midlength system, it cost about 1400 and change, but I believe this is one of my best AR15, even compare to the RugerSR556 or the higher end PWS or ACR Rifle.

if i ever do wish to have a v5 setup on a v7 ddm4, i could just purchase the same rail and drop it in or will i HAVE to get the v5 version inorder to have that setup?
thank you very much for the info, man. :)

first of all; thanks so much for the pic. i really appreciate that you took the time to take a pic and let me get a good idea of what can be done :)
oh definitely, i am not expecting to be a great shooter just because i have a great gun. i was just leaning towards a full build since i am too green
to make my own ar... yet! but that idea has crossed my mind several times and i am really excited of making my own as well.

i guess i am torn between the core 15 and the dd... but the dd is probably going to win ;)
thanks you guys, all the info given to me in this thread has really given me a good idea of what to expect!

good luck with your build!....once I picked up an Ar, I've never looked back!
Great sport, and great friends!
Cheers.

You could buy a DDv7 and replace the free float later, but thats just added expense. Any quad rail would work but i recommend DD omega rails, its ridiculous how light they are and rigid. My DD m4 v5 weighs alot less than my 10" RRA rifle.

Sorry to go off your list of three which is easy to do but here is just one option. Stag has a good selection and super Canadian support from Arms East. From my experience, it's hard to beat the boys from "The Rock." My strategy has always been to "buy" the company first and then the product.

thanks, bro. this was probably one of the most importantest things i needed to know because i was thinking of saving myself a couple
hundred and then upgrading later with v7. :) thanks, man

Not too many people talk about it, but half the fun of owning an AR-15 is changing it. I started with a Stag Model 3, changed the trigger set, added a Samson free float competition rail and a few other toys and now have just the AR I want until the next time. :)

Dd ar15 if u don't mind spending a bit more.
Core15 ar15 if u want to save money.
I had both brands and they both shot flawlessly.
Go for dd if you want the quad rail.

Forget about bushmaster
Look into windham weaponry, they go for around $1200.
