help with proper ID please

Hi all I realize this one is rough but I'd like to identify it properly, also wondering if the brass-lined hole in the very front wood is supposed to be there, as well as the "rivet head" just ahead of it on the left side. FN logo on receiver ring. I guess it's a K98, is there anything else it should be called? Thanks

Repair at the wrist, not sure about that front hole you mentioned...

Good rifles, though, not as "collectible" as German or Czech m24s IMO and from having them on my tables at gun shows.

Definitely a cool rifle.

I've never seen that hole in the front before. Not sure what's up with that.
