I have all Dillon dies but recieved this set with an old S&W .38S&W revolver I bought a few months ago.

The first 3 seem the same as my Dillon dies 1)re-size/deprime 2)bell/powder 3)seat.

This 4th die looks like just a belling die. With Dillon this is part of the powder die. It seems like I am missing a crimp die.

Any help would be appreciated.

What is this one?

That is the case neck expanding die. Used to expand the case neck very slightly so lead bullets don't shave.
Dillon has a hollow case neck expander that the powder measure fits on.
If you can see the case neck expansion - you have it set up to expand too much.
Lee sells a similar powder through die as well.
You can purchase a .38 S&W powder through expander from Dillon and install it in the powder through die. This expander will also work on .38 spl and .357 mag. if you set it up correctly.

That makes sense. With the other Dillon sets I have the powder funnel expands the mouth and there is an opening for the powder to go through. I guess I need one of these.

Do I also need a crimp die for this caliber? I assume I do to close the bell.

To answer the question asked:

The person who sold you the set must have bought a powder-through die to add to the set, that is why you have 2 neck expanding/belling dies; one that is powder-through (hollow expander), one that is the original (solid expander).

You can crimp with the seating die, as with most other die sets. You can look up the instructions online. Why did you order a crimp die?

Thanks for the info. Just saw your post I havent been here for awhile.

I haven't bought anything yet but I thought I needed a crimp die because my set for .44 mag (Dillon 550B) has a separate crimp and seating die. I will look for the instructions online.

A seperate crimp die can save a bit of grief as sometimes seating and crimping at the same time can collapse/wrinkle cases, making them hard to chamber.
