Help with stock finish please!

Finally done.

Here are some photos, hope to see how she shoots tomorrow!

I had to put in a couple of screws so that I could reinforce the stock. Thus the two new holes above the trigger guard, filled in on the side.

Gibbs: You should have done your re-inforcing internally with glass bedding compound and steel bolt sections. You still have some work to do on the finish yet. The total surface needs to be resanded until level with the low spots (pore surfaces) and then rebuilt up with thin coats. The surface should be totally flat and smooth when done. But, perhaps you are happy with it and that's what matters. That would not be an inexpensive piece of wood in todays market.
 
I wanted to keep the stock with it's age showing. I considered various ways of doing the repair inculding what you suggested with steel bolts. I also looked for the brass reinforcing screws but could not find any.

I will fill in the holes a bit better in the future!
