Just wondering, if I guy happened to inherit an excellent condition 1968 Colt SP1 with factory optic, but wanted to sell it, what would be a reasonable price?

If said guy offered it to you for $1000 would you buy it?

I've seen SP1s with the original Colt 3x scope sell for $1300-1500 on the EE, assuming good condition. They're a bit of a niche item, so it totally depends is someone is looking for one at the time...

Isn't this is? Standard catalog 2012

AR-15 Sporter (Model #6000)
A semi-automatic rifl e fi ring from a closed bolt was introduced
into the Colt product line in 1964. Similar in appearance and
function to the military version, the M-16. Chambered for the .223
cartridge. It is fi tted with a standard 20" barrel with no forward
assist, no case defl ector, but with a bayonet lug. Weighs about 7.5
lbs. Dropped from production in 1985.

I'd think it would sell quickly for a grand here on the EE, but I'm no expert on their value.

The condition (like NIB or like new with a low round count...) and any and all extras listed with it would really help. A $1,000 doesn't go that far with AR type rifles and that one isn't exactly common or even easy to find all original with optic.

There's only one way to find out what anything is worth and that's to list it for sale, over the years I've seen items sell for way more and a lot less then what I would have expected them to.

Cheers D

Id say 1250 for rifle (depending on condition).
If it's 3.5 or the 4x colt optic those go for 300+

800 would be a steal.
1000 for both would be a steal.

I'll buy both for 1k and you can make 200 on me of you get it for 800.
