Hi guys, looking for some help / insight with my PWS 7.62x39 - for some reason the action is unable to properly strip a round off a LAR mag once more than 5 rounds are loaded in the mag (I've tried multiple LAR mags). Do I just need a heavier buffer? I know this round is finicky with stanag mags & that debacle but I think they generally work ok in LAR mags...

Any insight greatly appreciated. With thanks!

Some rifles seem to work and others don't, sounds like you got one that doesn't.
Are all your pistol mags the same brand? Some are better than others.
As you already know the x39 is a heavier tapered cartridge than the 5.56 and the Stanag magazine is not designed to work with tapered cartridges. It's not a debacle, it's just geometry and what happens when you take a rifle and magazine designed for one cartridge and convert it to a different cartridge.

There is a vid on youtube about tweaking the x39 mags to work better in the AR platform. It helps, but still 7-8rds max for reliability.
As cr5 stated, these mags are a compromise due to geometry. That is why I still hope the WK180 will take AK mags (but plans are for AR type x39 mags).

That's too bad, anything other than an AK mag version will likely be problematic and be a disappointment to new owners. X39 should only be run in rifles that use a magazine designed for the cartridge.

Thanks, I'll check this out. Otherwise, this gun is just awesome. It's an moa shooter and never gets old seeing a clean & cool receiver after some shooting (uses a long stroke piston)
