Help

How i see it, the mounting bracket is held by a screw and a rivet so after removing the screw, the rivet must be grind or drilled. I wonder why they didnt attach it with screws only or rivets only. The handle arm itself is only riveted to the bracket so drlling out the rivet would do it but the bracket would remain attached to the rifle.

Thanks man I was hoping other alternatives then drilling the rivets out. Was hoping for something different but looks like that is my only option as of now.

Could the roll pin that holds the arm on be drifted out ya think?

The pin that hold the arm in place is a simple pin flared in place. In my opinion, trying to drift it without drilling the flare to weaken it a bit is not good. Once drilled, should be removed easily, just keep all the part(arm, spring, detend ball). The pin could be replaced with a small machine screw,or a roll pin depending on the size needed. I assume you want to remove the carrying handle to mount an optic?

This is precisely what I'm thinking too. Might be perfect to drift out that pin or drill out depending.

Maybe drifting out using a vise would gently deform the flare and the pin could be reused again if ever needed. It depend how much force would be needed. Otherwise, drilling is an easy and safe way to remove it.

i need somebody, not just anyone, you know I need someone

......perhaps to tell me how to post a more meaningful title......

I'm going to try this, let ya know how it goes. Thanks for the help unlike some useless dolt

I plan to grind the revit and take the thing completely off. If one wanted to mount the carry handle again, they could tap the hole that the revit was in for a button head screw. It'd look pretty original, and the next owner who wanted to take the carry handle off would thank you haha.
