ok so this is what i have Stevens 820B Pump Action. 2 3/4" Chamber, 28" full choke bbl now what would like to know is what kind of shot can be fired from it. specifically i would like to know if i can safely fire slugs (doubtful), non lead shot, and heavy game load shells. i am new to this so please be gentle thank you

i read that thread as well as several others on this site. this shotty doesnt appear to have interchangeable chokes and there didnt seem to be a deffinate answer in that other thread as it dealt mainly with interchangeable chokes thanks though

It is safe to shoot Foster type slugs out of a fixed full choke barrel. It is not safe to shoot hard shot (steel, tungsten-iron, HeavyShot, etc.) as it can bulge the barrel, even split it in the worst case. Your gun is safe to shoot with any soft shot (lead, tungsten polymer or bismuth), 2 3/4 inch or less SAAMI or CIP spec load (modern ammo). All this assumes that the gun is in good condition with no deep pitting or dents in the barrel.

Some people have found that shooting slugs out of a full choke barrel provides less than satisfactory accuracy, while others have found a load which works in their particular gun. The only way to know is to try a few different slug loads and find out.
