Hematite finish?

A Cooey followed me home (big surprise), has some sort of blackish silvery finish on it. Reminds me of hematite. What is it? Tempted to use it on another project.

Could be anything from a high polish to black chrome. Pity whoever did the job didn't do the butt plate screws too. What's the bore look like?

Certainly looks to be a custom job. Most Cooey's had very elementary bluing.

It's hard to tell but it looks like gun kote gun blue.

It looks a lot like slow rust blue.

Its really really ridiculously good looking - the gun, not me. Will check out those products, may use them on the other Cooeys where the bluing is brown...

polished metal with certain types of cold blue can look like that. if you cold blue it and then rub it with very fine oiled steel wool it takes a sortof oil black chromed look like that. IMO its just because the blue is very thin.
