Hey Everybody,

Glad to inform everybody that I am now an official match sponsor and will be teaching advanced ipsc classes on Friday and Saturday, giving both Standard and Open shooters an opportunity to attend. So, it doesn't matter what days you are shooting, just let me know in advance and we'll inform the match organizers.

This will be a lot more practical for everybody, come to the match, get to meet me and then attend a class either Friday or Saturday. We have a class room available to us and a separate range. You should bring about 300 rounds.

In the class I will spend a lot of time passing on the mindset that the top competitors for the most part share. To some extent it'll be an advanced abstract class with probably, for most people, a different view on how to break down and approach stages. I'll go into techniques on how to shave off time, which requires a sharp mind on your part. The goal is to give you mental tools to continually teach yourself to improve. Expect to spend several hours in the class room and then we'll go out on the range and start shaving those seconds off. I will give everyone individual attention and you'll go home or maybe even compete the next day with some fresh ideas.

Price of the class is CDN 150 and paid at the range. I have will directions and info about where to meet when you register at the Nationals.

Looking forward to seeing you in my class. Contact me by sending a private message or email:

To make it easier to accomodate both Open and Standard shooters, they'll have me shoot the match on Wednesday and Thursday - freeing up Friday and Saturday for classes.

It's better this way, everyone will be at the match, have a few days and if they want, take a class. That way everyone will also have a chance to meet me in person first.

Everyone will have a day off, but some of the days off will be Wed, some will be Thurs, so only people who have days off on Fri and Sat will be able to take the class. There is only so much you can do, schedule wise... (haha, I find the focus on Std and Open shooters cute (the cute bit is the ommision of Production, when recently Prod seems to have overtaken Open in terms of shooter numbers ;) ).

here's a thought - taking the class on Sat is a little pointless, since there is no more shooting left for you, in the match. it might have been better to offer the classes Wed and Thurs (with you shooting Fri and Sat), since that way people would actually have more opportunity to use what they learned in the class in this match...

ohh, well... ;)

Is there a shooting schedule set aside for just divisions?

ie...standard wednesday and friday / open thursday and saturday?

No, that's for the provincials teams - the open teams and the std teams usually shoot opposite schedules... Individual shooters are all mixed together.

Correct! Open & Production Teams Wednesday / Friday. ------ Standard Teams Thursday / Saturday.
If someone is really good and not on a team, we try to put them on the same day as the matching divisional teams so we don't hear people complaining that someone got an advantage because of the weather.

Everyone else where they can fit with as many requests that were sent in honored as possible.

If anyone is worried about people that they are travelling with shooting or working on different days, remember that the range is 4 minutes from the match hotel - something like a $6 cab ride...

Actually, I find that learning new skills and ideas usually goes hand in hand with an immediate drop off in performance as one seeks to lock the new techniques into the subconscious. After this little bump the skill levels usually rise to a higher level...assuming a decent practice regimine of course..... than before the new stuff was absorbed. So maybe taking the class after the match is over for the competitor is actually the best thing?

And you don't have to worry about using up all of your ammunition practicing before the match. I would mention Alan at this point, but I don't think he's on Gunnutz. :D

Hey Guys,

For those of you that have not had the opportunity to meet Henning, you are in for a treat.

He is a true gentleman, he has one of those personalities that draws you to him, a very likable fellow.
I had an chance to get to know him on a few occasions in the past. First at the SHOT Show in Vegas 2 years ago (quite the party), then at a few major matches. He also bummed a ride from us from Pasa Park to Windsor last year. Yes, I was one of the cruel guys that dumped him off at the bus stop. (If you read the recap of his US Nats to Can Nats adventures last year from his website, you'll know what I mean, but in my defence I had to work at 7am the next morning.)

I imagine that Henning has the potential to provide a course that is very in depth intellectually. This game is not about how fast you can pull the trigger and with Henning I think you will learn the mind game needed to improve your performance.

I have taken Grauffel's course, Max's & Travis's course and I think the course that Henning is offering will be different in an enlightening way.

See you at the match Henning,

Phil
