Henry.22 lever octogon bbl

Oh that is sweet. If I were to get a Henry, which I have considered, it would be that model.
Where did you order it from? When you get it, let me know if the wood is as nice as the wood in the picture.

Ordered from SIR mailorder supposed to receive it within the next two weeks, will let you know. If you go on the Henry web site, you can order a FREE catalogue. I did, and that convinced me detailed pics and a lot of info on each gun. I was thinking of going for a larger caliber, but man .22 is cheap and you can even feed the shorties in those. so can basically do some plinking anywhere ( were safe to do so of course) and shoot all day w/o blowing up your budget. It is also fairly priced . just too bad I did Not ordered earlier as the price just went up.

The Engraved model looks pretty cool as well. Keep us posted on how it shoots. Oh ya, did SIR have it in stock or do they have to order it in?

When I placed my order earlier today, they had 3 in stock with octogon bbl.
I guess the next two week will seem damn long until I receive it but from what I read on this rifle I think it worth the wait :D :D .

"alloy receiver"

That is a good question. I certainly hope it is NOT white metal / pot metal . Alluminum allow I dont mind much as some manufacture ( winchester, Mossber/Maverick etc ) makes shotgun receiver with it. The way I see it, If they can make 12ga pump & semi shotgun receiver out of it, it shall be fine for a small .22 . Also had a nice Ithaca model 49 single shot lever action in the past, the receiver was alluminum allow and was strong as hell Not to say that they also make aircraft and their landing unit out of alloy. But you made a GOOD point, and I have just eMailed the information department at Henry's to get the right answer on that.

Will let you know as soon I receive the answer.

My buddy bought the Golden Boy a couple of weeks back, and I had the opportunity to shoot it this past Wednesday.
VERY SWEET!
It is quite accurate and points nicely.
My only complaint, and it is minor, is the amount of "throw" in the lever to opperate the action, especially when you consider how short the round is.
Other than that, it gets an AAA+ rating!
Have fun!! :dancingbanana:

Reply from Henry

Have received the reply from Henry . By the way they replied without delay. That is customer service !!! Here is a part of their answer:
''The receiver is an cast alloy, lightweight but very durable. Same used in many many guns thse days, like Ruger 10/22. The term pot metal went out the window in 1962. The parts will last forever, and has some better properties than steel in both tensile and yield.''

I picked up a golden boy in .22 awhile back. I had wanted one since I was a kid. It was in the used rack at the local gun shop, but it had never been fired.
It was love at first sight. And as soon as I worked the action I knew I had to take her home, Without a doubt the SMOOOOOOTHEST action I had ever felt. You will be impressed. Enjoy.

i would just be careful when using cleaning solvents near the reciever....
you wouldnt want to strip the finish.....its a baked on enamel of some sort...

I've got a golden boy - also with an octogon barrel. I have yet to shoot it

Well, I got a chance to shoot it today. It's a ton of fun, I just couldn't put it down. I put a whole brick through it this afternoon. At 50 yards, I was shooting into 4" groups - which is as good as I can shoot with open sights; I'm sure the gun could do better if I could

Sweet. Sounds like fun. :D

I have the regular Henry Lever .22 that I ordered from SIR just over a year ago. It's a smooth handling rifle, beautifully crafted, a joy to shoot and nicely priced.

Cheers,

Frank

To Henry, or not to Henry

Having a metal debate with my self: I am in the market for a .22. I used to own a 10/22 and I liked it, after I sold the Ruger I had the chance to shoot a Henry .22, just the standard version nothing fancy but I liked it alot. Now that I am in the market again I can't decide what I want!! Semi's are so bloody fun, but a lever would have a fun factor as well.:bangHead:

I've had a 10/22, and the fun factor is nowhere near what it is with the levers. Too plastick-y, too 'toy-ish,' and it doesn't feel as 'real' as a lever - there's just not the same level of shooter involvement with a semi. Class vs crass
:)
