I shot one of those once. The action was very smooth. It shot accurately enough to hit cans etc st 60 to about 100m range. Per the reviews the octagon barrel is more of an old time appearance feature than for accuracy. If compared to current Marlin or Mossberg options they are much better finished. The main difference being the loading gate being absent. Instead there is a brass rod in the front that is turn and pulled out. Rounds are then dropped in from the top of the tube and the brass rod reinserted. While there are pros to this such as only having to cycle one round out of the chamber when unloading and reliving the old time feel it also comes with draw backs. You have to be be careful ot to roundhouse near the brass rod or it could be bent, at the range extra care must be taken when reloading and when hunting for me I'd only use the rifle on the ground because opening the tube and reloading would be a bit of a hastle kn a tree stand. Still its definately a very nice rifle and of those current models available are one of the best choices.
