A friend of mine and I were wondering why the front sight on his new Henry Survival AR-7 are plain black instead of the orange older ones?... Opinions?
I might have an orange one kicking around somewhere, and I also would not be surprised of Henry was happy to send your buddy one free if he wants one....
Just paint the sight (parts of it) with the color you want. I've used finger nail paint before. It's actually pretty tough.
I've bought orange and white, plus at halloween the kids came back with flourescent neon yellow/green nail paint. The oldest painted the tip of the front sight on a .22 with it. She says it's easier to see in lower light conditions. I don't argue that...
I have a 1960? Armalite AR-7 and I just put a dot of white paint on the tip of the front sight. If you're stuck on Orange, get some Day-glo orange paint?
The dovetail on the Henry Survival rifles is not a typical 3/8" so it's not easy to just change the front sight out for a different style.... years ago I bought some dovetail files for another project and I ended up using files and a fine saw to re cut the plastic base on the henry and now I run a williams fiber optic front sight.
