Hello All,

I am wondering if there are folks about with knowledge of these doubles or anyone who can point me in the direction of some experts. Some reading on the web but not much, likely a call to the other side of the pond is in order.

Cheers,

They are still in business as Atkin, Grant and Lang and still make a few new best quality sidelock doubles under the Atkin name every year, to order. If you want one of these, expect a two- three year wait after confirming the order and expect to pay about what you would for a new top line Mercedes Benz. A used one has a very wide range of value depending on many factors but they are not a bargain item. Look them up on Guns International site, it will give you some numbers in American dollars. Of course the market is different there, but it will give you some indication of a current American price range. Actual selling price is dictated by original quality ( Atkin guns have it in spades ), brand name value ( a premium ) and current condition, condition, condition. A worn, tired, altered or damaged gun will always be worth less than a really fine similar example. If you have an Atkin gun you can provide them with the serial number and for a fee they will provide the information in their ledgers on that gun.

There is a superb book on the history of the maker and their guns, ATKIN, GRANT and LANG by Don Masters. Still currently available.
