Hey guys

I’m considering picking up a lever gun in .357mag. I’m looking for honest reviews on the Henry Big Boy.

I figured this would be a sweet truck gun, when I’m back in the camp bush and a fun plinking gun.

If anyone owns, or has owned one, what do/did you think of it? Do they cycle .357 and .38spcl both reliably?

And last of all, if anyone has one they’re willing to part with, I am in the market for one (or something similar like a Rossi 92, or Marlin in .357mag)

I have one in the classic brass style and it's extremely nice, but if you look at the brass the wrong way it scratches. They're great rifles but keep in mind you'll be loading via the tube unless you pick up a new side-loading one, fires everything I put through it smoothly and accurately, bit nose heavy but that's to be expected on the model I got.

I have a few friends in cowboy action that "had" this rifle.
They had very weak extraction issues. How does yours extract ? weak or strong ?
They also had issues when trying to cycle the rifle fast.
there also seems to be further evidenced of these issues on the gun forums that I've searched.
I have wanted to buy one, but...........

I have one and I love it. I also have an "older" US made Winchester in .357 with the tang safety and while it's a great gun, the Henry has a much smoother action. I have a skinner rear sight on which helps with accuracy, at least for me. Zeroed at 100m, and it shoots better than me, and that's with a 12" barrel. Former ranch hand with a rifle butt stock installed. It feeds .38 and .357 just the same, no issues.

For cowboy action I've heard the same, I dont think the Henry is too popular in that sport. I don't shoot mine often because the brass scratches so easily, but I haven't noticed any cycling or extraction issues. I am not a fast shooter though, I take my sweet time.
