Henry Big boy feed issue

I am having a loading/jamming issue on my Big Boy in .44 mag. When at the range if I load the tube magazine with the lever open it will jam the lever open with the first round in the magazine. I removed the plunger from the magazine and removed all the other rounds but the first round is stuck (but loose) in the loading ramp. I end up removing the lever and bolt in order to get the round stuck behind the ramp to slide back down the tube.

If I load the tube with the lever closed/bolt forward it will cycle flawlessly. The rifle is a few years old but only had a few dozen rounds run through it.

As the forum has stated and backed by Henry I'm a dumb-ass. Response from Henry felt a bit "short" but I'll live

Naturally, you are having a problem with it because, as stated in the manual, you are always supposed to load the magazine with the lever and action closed.
