Hey there, coming from a position of ignorance so hopefully someone can shed some light here.

Sold a bunch of guns lately. With some of the proceeds, I just got a Henry Big Boy new from store in .44 Mag (my first lever). Has side loading gate and is the brass version. Absolutely gorgeous gun. The box says it is model H006G.

Everything looks in order in the package except the manual included is for a H012. The pictures on the manual seem to indicate steel receiver, which, if it is the only difference between the models, that's fine. BUT Henry online has a combo H006/H012 (legacy) manual which has the brass models on the cover and also references the H006. Not sure if this is one and the same with the H012, whether one generation is newer than the other. Thought I'd ask in case it was an easy answer. A quick cursory look online didn't turn up anything except the aforementioned manual.

Did I get the wrong manual with the right gun? Or an old manual with a newer gun? Maybe it ultimately doesn't matter and Henry updated their manuals recently. The date of testing/QA card seems to indicate Feb 2024 manufacturing so rifle itself is pretty new.

Thanks for any input.

They either didn't have enough copies of the right one or just put the wrong one in. The operating mechanism should be the same. It shouldn't matter, in principle.

Yeah I did a comparison of the online combo manual (I hate online manuals period and won't waste my ink on my home printer to print it out) and the printed manual for H012. Looks like really the only difference is in the photos (reflecting the brass options) and in the specs, it covers the brass options with the receiver finish. Maybe just wanted to get rid of the older ones first. Doesn't seem like there is an exclusive manual for H006, so MAYBE the H012 is the older (original) version of the Big Boy and then they added the optional finishes and then came up with the H006. As you said, it probably doesn't matter as operationally it is the same thing. I am just more curious as to what is newer, what is older and how the generations work.
