Henry Golden Boy .22 WMR Accuracy Issue

Hey guys need some help! I recently purchased a new in the box Henry Golden Boy .22 Mag from Canadian Tire. Took it out to shoot it today and was having some troubles. I was shooting Remington Premier 33 Grain Accutips (because that is the only ammo I could find anywhere in .22 WMR) and was having real issues. I was benched at 50 yards open sights and was lucky if I could get a 15 inch group out of the gun. I moved up to 25 yards and maybe narrowed it into a 12 inch group. the thing is I would have 2 rounds hit relatively close to each other and then the next couple wouldn't even hit the paper and so on. Needless to say I am frustrated. Even at that range with any ammo those groups are unacceptable. Unfortunately I can not find any .22 WMR ammo anywhere else to compare. But this seems a little ridiculous to me. Anyone have any advice thoughts as to what is going on here? Thanks. P.S If this is in the wrong forum I'm sorry.
 
Is the lever closing fully? I bought a golden boy in .22lr a few months ago that was grouping about like you describe. I found that the lever was not closing fully. It's out for warranty repair and should be back this week.
 
Try CCI maxi-mags (40 grain). While the Henry is not a sub moa rifle, imho it is a one moa rifle. Mine is, but I scoped mine to help old eyes. I did a side by side comparason with a CZ455 in .17HMR. I know, not a fair comparason between the calibres, but the results showed me what the Henry was capable of. I shot 1 to 1-1/2 inch groups (many of them) from 100 metres.

You do have a good rifle, but it's no CZ. Try some different ammo and check those sights. My sights were high and right, right out of the box. I did not want to drift the front sight, so I scoped it and don't rely on the irons anymore.

BTW, the most fun I have ever had with a rimfire gun, is with my Henry. Doing rainbow shots out to 200 metres and beyond just makes me smile. Try it. (If you can understand the ballistics of the round and the environment.)

Hey Rob, My lever seems to be closing fully. I hear the click of the extractor when I close it, however it does not lay flush with the grip. Is that normal? Is there supposed to be a gap?
