Henry Golden Boy rear sight removal.

Hey folks, tried searching this but nada came up really.

Looking at replacing my Henry golden boy sight with a Skinner peep sight. I currently have the stock Buckhorn rear sight and I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with hit.


Has anyone used the barrel mount and if so how did you remove the rear sight?

I think you need to drift it out of its groove in the receiver.

Release the tension on the screw and press down in the middle and slide it to the right

I was able to loosen the set screw and wiggle the factory sight out of the dovetail by hand from my GB. The Skinner sight had to be tapped into place with a small nylon tipped hammer. I did not have to do any file work on the sight as the Skinner web site mentions may be required. It looks great and shoots even better with this set up. I still use the factory front sight. A happy Skinner customer

Use a hardwood dowel to drift the factory sight out from left to right... reverse the order to install the Skinner.
