I'v been looking into getting a Henry golden boy .22lr. Does anyone own one of these? If so, what do you think of it?. I could go the cheaper rout and just get a regular henry .22 but dammit that brass finish is nice. feel free to incude some pics if you got em'.

awesome little rifle.

had a frontier and sold it...missed it soon after and bought a golden boy.

only difference is the brass finish and the wood is much nicer on the GB

also the drop in the stock is different. Handle both and make sure you can get a good bead on the sights on the GB.

I love mine. Rabbits hate it.

I hear you on the sights, I sold my golden boy and picked up an H001 because I couldn't get a good sight picture at all with the golden.

Both are great guns though.

Just (barely) off-topic, last night I e-mailed Henry Repeating Arms to ask about the front sight height on the H001, explaining that I have an Ithaca/Erma Model 72 Saddlegun, which I understood was the deisgn they used for the current H001. I had misplaced the front sight and was going to replace it with a fibre-optic one but I needed to know the height.

This morning I recived this reply:

Email your telephone number, name, street address and reminder to send you (1) HL2231 sight no charge
Sincerely,
Anthony Imperato

I just e-mailed him back with the info and to say "thank you" (I gave my alternate US address so there wouldn't be any extra postal charges for International) and less than 5 minutes later I got a reply: "My pleasure."

Now that is IMPRESSIVE customer service.

I am watching Anthony on the RFD-TV clip on their website. Love this line: "Guns have only two enemies- rust and politicians.'

I had the Octagon version and it handled and shot great. The sights were so so.
My Buddy has the Golden Boy and its similar but blinged out more. You probably have to be a little more careful fondling the GB if you want to keep it pretty looking.

I see they are for sale on Cabelas website for around $440 with 20" octagon barrel. Does that sound like a pretty good price, I haven't had a chance to check out any of the local firearm shops yet to compare the prices.

By far my favorite of all my lever .22's
Super smooth action.
Nice wood and brasslite finish.
Finally had a chance to take it apart completely last week since owning it for 2 years.
Overall, good machine work and fairly easy to service if need be.

One thing though...if you haven't used buckhorn sights and realize that they just don't work for you, don't worry...Truglo makes a nice fiber set...like the one on my GB.

wow that is a beautiful gun. The one I was looking at on cabelas.ca didn't have a brass barrel band, it adds so much more to the look of it tho. Where did you pick yours up?

Oh yes...the brasslite barrel band is a must have...it was like that from factory...I purchased it from one of the sponsors up top...Blue Line Activities.
Shop around...looks like Badger has them around $449...but you'll have to check if it comes with the brasslite band.
