Hey guys, first time rifle owner here. I just had a quick question about cleaning a brand new, unfired H001. People have suggested that you should clean a new gun before you fire it the first time.

QUESTIONS:

1: If I've never fired a round through it yet, does that mean bore cleaner AND oil? Or should I just run a bore snake with some gun oil on it?

2: Can I just use something like Ballistol instead of bore cleaner, AND oil?

3: When you lube the barrel, should you also run a dry patch or bore snake to make sure it's "dry" after applying the oil?

Thank you.

You are WAY over-thinking it... it is a .22 LR, spray it down with Rem Oil, run the snake through it and go shooting... give it a wipe down and snake after every long session... if it gets wet, wipe it dry, let it come to room temperature and spray it and snake it. Mostly just shoot it.

Ok, thanks guys. I've never cleaned a rifle before, and I'm sure it's not rocket surgery.

Hoytcannon - when you say "spray it down", you mean just the inside of the barrel right? - No need to oil the outside of the barrel?

Again, thanks
