Getting either of these next week. Can't really make up my mind. Not interested in modding at all.

Perhaps a scope... Generally prefer iron sights. I do have a Bushnell Trophy red dot sitting around though.

Gentlemen, please share your thoughts and experiences.

Gotta be honest, kinda leaning towards the Henry.

I believe the Henry will allow the use of Short, Long and Long Rifle ammunition.
I'm hoping to get one for the upcoming 'chicken' season.

The Henry I had was very slick and lots of fun to shoot. Rugers are a different world altogether, and seem to create more problems as you try to decide which way would be best to dress it up.

I will get the Henry. I spent an hour or so watching videos on Youtube of the Henry. I really like it.

Thanks all. I'll post some pics once it arrives!

Henry - picked up a used one with a broken firing pin. Went on line left them a message had a new one sent to me within 24 hours no charge! A very good company that stands behind there product new or used.

...if only the Henry had a 50 round drum mag option...

...if only someone made a 10/22 drum mag that was reliable...lol!

Either way you can't go wrong. It really is personal preference. I'm sure you will be happy with your Henry. Make some speed loaders out of arrow shafts if you want a quick refill. Skinner Sights makes a nice rear peep for your rig, if you like peeps instead of that buckhorn.

cool call with the Henry, i think if you were leaning towards it to begin with, you would have never been totally satisfied with a 10/22.

have fun, and happy shooting

Depends on what kind of shooting you are going to be doing. I have both, and I like the 10/22 more at the range because the lever can be a little more cumbersome shooting off the bench and popping in a new mag is easier than loading the mag tube on the Henry.

If you are hunting, either would be great, but I would probably lean towards the Henry. Plus the lever is just cool.

If you go for the Henry, get the skinner sights. They are great and look good on it.

P.S. - cleaning the Henry is a breeze. No takedown, just run a patch or a boresnake through and wipe out the chamber and boltface with a swab. Takes 2 minutes.

You've already made up your mind, but I'll throw my vote behind Henry. It is a different beast, but as you mentioned you weren't looking to mod. In my limited experience with 10/22's, they perform best after mods.

Cheers,
Cal.
