Still new here, so apologies if this is covered somewhere else. I just got a Henry Lever .22, and I can't say enough good things about it. Fun, accurate, not too pricey, and as I understand they get better with time. Looking at the sights though, I sure would like to upgrade, and I would like to try Skinner sights. Does anyone in Canada import these? As I understand the situation, they no longer import to Canada, is that true? Also, I ran into this:

polish all of the following pieces until they are shiny (do not change the angles though):
- entire bolt (you only have to do the parts of the bolt that make contact with the Carrier Axle, but I do the whole thing because it looks cool shiny)
- the portions of the carrier axle that the bolt rides on.
- the portion of the receiver which the bolt (may) contact when sliding through.
- the portions of the lever that (may) contact other parts.
- the portions of the lever which rotate on other metal.
- the portions of the trigger which rotate on other metal.
- the portions of trigger that engage with the hammer.
- the hammer guide ball.
- the portions of the hammer which make contact with the trigger

Good advice? Worth the time? Seems to me these parts are going to be worn down anyways as it breaks in, is there any advantage to doing it now? New guy here, feel free to tell me it's nonsense. Cheers!

News to me if Andy at Skinner doesn't ship to Canada anymore. Never had an issue, excellent product.

I don't see the need to do all that polishing, action is butter smooth. Go to rimfire central under the Henry thread lots of usefull info there and as for skinner not exporting to Canada sounds like a recent development.

You say "Octagon"... does that mean the Frontier or the Golden Boy?

I have Skinner sights on a number of my Henry rifles... Andy has always shipped directly to me... but I have not ordered anything for over a year, so maybe his policy has changed?

The Golden Boy does not have a railed or tapped receiver, so the Skinner peep is barrel mounted, which for me is uncomfortably far forward... But the Frontier has a railed receiver as does the standard H001 and the Varmint... Skinner makes a slotted peep to attach to the rail as seen in the picture below... I couple most of mine with the Lyman 17 AUG globe sight with Lee Shaver inserts;

Hoytcanon, it is the frontier, so the sight you have pictured is the one I am looking at getting. The factory sights where surprisingly useful out of the box. I will look further into the Skinner shipping thing, I am glad to hear the forums I read that from may be incorrect. I looked for a used one on the EE, but I don't blame people for not wanting to sell them. I think I might do some of that polishing, just the bolt and receiver contact points. The rest is really going to far, although the author also recommended removing coils from springs, and that's farther than I will go for sure. Really enjoying this gun!

As far as the polishing goes... have you ever felt a lever gun as smooth? I have BL-22's, Win 94's, Marlin 39 Mounties, Uberti's... and all four of my Henry rimfire rifles are smoother than these and with pretty nice triggers to boot... the only polishing I have done is shooting brick after brick and swabbing the action and barrel... and then back to shooting brick after brick... this has worked just fine for me.

Can only agree with everything said above. Andy ships sights to Canada, I bought mine earlier this year. No need to do any polishing or taking apart of the rifle. Just install sights and shoot. Remember if you get the rear sight that mounts on the breech cover dovetail rail, you will need a taller front sight. With the barrel mounted rear sight you can use the factory front sight.

Yeah, I have no experience with lever guns, so I have nothing to compare it to. I think I will polish the parts... by firing lots and lots of rounds. Cheers.
