Henry Levers

Bought a Henry 22 LR lever a few months back. Have nothing but good to say about this rifle. My teenage son and I have had lots of fun shooting this rifle at the range. It is easy to use and did not have any stoppages at all. We have used a few different brands of ammunition with no problem at all. I found the accuracy to be very good in my experience. Importantly, the rifle handles well and functions well. The rifle is also a nice looking firearm.

Jumped in with both feet and bought 2 Henrys today.

22LR large loop carbine and 17HMR varmint express. I was actually eyeing up the 24" octagon barrel 22LR, but none were immediately available, so I figured I might as well get the compact .22 and give it a whirl.

Buttery smooth actions on both of these rifles. They do feel nice so far, but you can definitely tell they are budget levers based on some of the fit and finish. The amount of positive reviews on Henry rimfires is hard to ignore though.

Had an H001... Mine had a very nice fit and finish. The plastic barrel band turned me off, and I couldn't get it to group under 4" at 50m no matter what ammo I used. I always felt like I was going to break it too for whatever reason, it didn't seem like a very tough/durable rifle to me. Sold it and moved on.
That said, one day I'd like to try a frontier octagon model.

I have had a standard youth model for several years now, it’s comfortable to shoot, and I use the factory iron sights. It has seen close to ten thousand rounds, it cycles and shoots anything I put in it reliably.

Apparently I called Henry on the wrong day. Got hung up on twice. The first lady said she thinks the phone was acting up and disconnected me. She seemed pleasant enough and willing to help me with my order. The second lady let out a big groaning sigh before hanging up. This was apparently a different department, because the parts I wanted needed to be ordered from different areas of the company.

I paid for each of the parts I ordered, which also had to be ordered separately of each other so I apparently had to pay shipping on each of them. I wasn't going to ask for free stuff, nor did I expect anything to be free, I just wonder how it's randomly dolled out?

I'm sure someone will come along and tell me I was being rude or demanding to them, but I wasn't. There seemed to be some frustration with hearing anything I was saying, so one of us was having phone problems. The second lady seemed annoyed that the part would be shipped UPS and I was giving her a post office box # and tried to assure her it would just end up at a local business that runs a UPS drop off as well.

Anyways, I got the parts ordered. I'm just apparently missing the boat on their exceptional customer service. I've had more cooperative and pleasant dealings with Western Gun Parts.

I should also report that the 17hmr I purchased needed to be taken apart after about 50 rds. It needed some parts sanded and polished because it sure wasn't cycling smoothly after a few shots. Had a very "gritty" feel to it on closing. Seems fine now. I guess someone has to be a downer in a forum full of satisfied Henry customers, and I'll take the throne for now.

Both guns are working fine for now, fun to shoot as well, so hopefully they hold up for a good long while yet.
