Henry repeating arms will be producing a mares leg!!!
Overall length will be 25 inches that is just 1 inch over Chiappa and Rossi mares leg.
Hopefully enough people respond to this thread and our dealers will start working on bringing them in as soon as they can.

It is not a joke there making them! !
When they start coming into Canada there will be a run on subsonic .22
model number H001ML
barrel length just under 13 inches!
Length: 25 inches
weight is 4.45LB

Both Chiappa and Rossi mares legs are 24 inches and nonrestricted in Canada.
Can't see why they wouldn't make a 25 inch mares leg nonrestricted.

What firearms are prohibited?
The Criminal Code defines the following firearms as prohibited:
  • automatics, including those that have been converted so that they can only fire one projectile when the trigger is squeezed;
  • handguns with a barrel length of 105 mm or less, and handguns that discharge .25 or .32 calibre ammunition, except for a few specific models used in International Shooting Union competitions;.
  • rifles and shotguns that have been altered so that their barrel length is less than 457 mm (about 18 inches) or their overall length is less than 660 mm (about 26 inches); or
  • any firearm prescribed as prohibited -- These can be found in the fact sheet listing restricted and prohibited firearms.

The key sentence there is "...rifles and shotguns that have been altered..."

From the manufacturer, it could be legal that way...

They're coming from the factory that way so they should be at the worst restricted.

I'm hopeful they're NR as I'd replace the stock with a full one and have the perfect Hiking rifle.

Been waiting a WHILE for a lever gun, these will be wicked

I'm still in shock myself in regards to the mares leg and their length even though I have chiappa mares leg 44 Magnum 24 inches overall it will be shipped out this week! Badger is already selling their second shipment already!
I do not know why they classified the mares leg as nonrestricted but I am happy they did.

Because it doesn't meet the DEFINITION of prohibited. Read above, it must be altered, these guns are not. It becomes quite clear.

The RCMP is actually following the law for once with the Mare's leg classifications.

It looks interesting. Henry does have a butter smooth action, however, the painted receiver and the plastic barrel ring screams cheese in my opinion.

Show me a .22 in the price range that doesn't contain some plastic, also most have garbage wood. Several CGNer's can attest to the fact that even the H0001 can come with great sticks of walnut.

Wow...most new .22s usually get an automatic "I want one" response in my head, before I even read the specifics. Have to say, this ain't one of them. Granted, I've shot my Norinco Backpacker more than any other gun this winter by a LARGE margin, and that gun isn't everyone's cup of tea I'm sure. This lever is probably better-built, just fail to see the appeal is all. I'm going to follow this thread though...maybe I'll see the light. :)
