Henry new single shots look interesting

Pistol calibers would be interesting. I have an H&R with 12ga and .357Max barrels. Have shot the rifle barrel with .357Max, .357Mag, and .38Spec. With .38Spec wadcutters it isn't much louder than a .22.

Yup, I can load 38spl for not much more then a 22lr round, packs much more punch too. I'd probably grab the 357 as soon as I can find one.

I could use the .38/.357 mag for hunting tin cans & rabbits,....38 WC's would be perfect for them! (no limit on tin cans) ;)
.357 mag handloaded with 158 gr home cast gc & mag powders like H-110 or A-2400 powder for deer.

Would be a handy piece for plinking, hunting, or have around camp for any reason...:)

A nice accurate round for those H&R 357s is the 360 DW (Dan Wesson) round.

A bit more power than a 357, but with the same pressure. Brass is available and it can be reloaded with your 38/357 dies.

Am I out to lunch or out of touch? Or do these seem a bit spendy in comparison to what they are? I’d lovea357 version so I can turn the boys loose with a couple hundred 38’s and let them plink.

$500 doesn't get you much these days.
There isn't really anything else comparable to these on the market. Ruger single shots are $2000 lol.
Kind of the new H&R Handi rifles but nicer, fills a niche.

You are out to lunch :) Sorry...Anyway I bought one of the first 12Ga ones with steel receiver that was brought in. They are very high quality and worth every cent in my mind. Solid steel and wood, no plastic anywhere. Sure you can buy a bolt action rifle for less (Savage Axis) but half of it will be plastic and built very cheaply in comparison. If you like quality firearms, these single shots offer you an entry into that world for less than $600, that is a bargain in my mind. BTW, once I have saved up the funds I want to get either a 30-30 or 308 rifle version to go with my shotgun, not sure which yet, I have tons of reloading stuff for either caliber.

Awesome! I’m glad to hethat they are in fact quality well made weapons. I had quickly looked at the images in the link and thought of the H&R single shots I kick myself for not buying. If they are of that quality or better the yes I’d be happy atthe $500 level.

Sometimes a guy gets stuck in the mindset of a few years ago and the prices things were and likely never will be again.

I have a TC Hotshot for my boys and since it’s so similar to the Contender and Encore I thought of moving them into one of those as they grow. But these might be viable alternatives as well. Will have to keep an eye on them.

So does anyone in Canada have these? I like the idea of the .38/.357 for fun at the range. I haven't hunted game in decades but a fun little centre fire plinker would be a nice idea.
