Henry Survival Rifle AR7 Shoots 16-18 inches low at 25 meters

I hope that the new barrel helps.
With my AR, I have to push down the barrel to get the nut to even start to thread. I don't know if 'hand-tight' is enuf to get the barrel fully seated. If not that could be the issue. I know on mine it's not.
Maybe you'll end up with 2 good barrels ?
EDIT - Are your recoil springs that soft ??
EDIT 3/20-2PM - Hi again - I just bought a used Henry AR-7 and the springs are that soft ! Maybe mine is tighter due to Aluminum Oxide build-up on the threads. I'll lightly polish the threads and spray with Silicone dri-slide to see if that's helpful. I haven't shot this one yet but the barrel is snug so . . . we'll see next week. This week the wind is 20+ kliks so accuracy is moot.

Thanks for your interest. I have been waiting for the replacement barrel from Henry (they shipped it from Wisconsin in mid-late March) - it just cleared Canadian customs after a 2 week wait - I just checked the tracking and it literally cleared customs earlier this afternoon). So I should get the replacement barrel this week and take it to my club next week to try it out. Will post (hopefully positive) results after next weekend. If it still shoots very low, I'll send the whole thing back to Grech for them to look at it. Henry seems fairly confident the barrel replacement will fix this issue - I got the impression that's how similar problems that others had were fixed.
 
Chas - Nope, the weather out here has been wet & windy and until this past few days the range has been a 1K walk due to snow. I'm too lazy to do that ! Supposed to be good later this week and I'll be out for testing. Got a couple rifles to "wake up" for the season ;-)
I'd suggest you buy one, esp if you can get a good deal. My Armalite I got for $175 a couple years ago and at 25 I can get 2" groups with the iron-peep but it needs HV to cycle properly. The Henry is supposed to do OK with SV, we'll see soon.
 
Interesting...I received the barrel today though not sure I will be able to make it after work to my club by dusk to try it out. What is interesting is that the replacement barrel's front post is black, nor orange. I haven't done any other comparisons yet, but maybe this is a different iteration / new and improved version of the barrel, who knows. If I don't get a chance to try it tonight I'll take it to my club on the weekend to check it out. I suppose if I was VERY curious I can dig up my laser bore sighter and try it with the two different barrels at home to see if there is a difference, but I may just wait till I get out to try it.
 
My final update on this thread. The barrel replacement did the trick. Shot the Survival Rifle with the new barrel and while I was not Annie Oakley I was happy not only the fact that I can now hit paper, but I got a group I can see. It wasn't precision rifle quality, but good enough for me to know that the issue was the barrel, previously. Henry took care of it so very happy about that.
 
I am glad as well, and have to commend Grech Outdoors (subcontracted to Henry) for their quick response, and action engaging Henry Repeating Arms to get me the barrel. I didn't have to send my rifle in, didn't even have to send them the defective barrel, and despite it going through CBSA, there was no cost to me (no duty, etc., which I suppose there shouldn't be since it's a warranty part). The only downside was the part sitting at customs for a couple of weeks before it got cleared, but that's not Henry's or Grech's fault.

This makes me feel pretty confident about owning other Henry products (which I do) and certainly going forward, I will definitely have a preference in buying Henry products where possible. Nowadays it is very easy for people to criticize companies for not supporting their products, but I definitely want to give a shout out and props to Henry for a great end-to-end experience in resolving my issue. There is something comforting in knowing whether I buy a Henry product new or used, I don't really have to worry about it if it has an issue down the line.
