I was thinking about getting the Hera Arms HK SL8 conversion unit for my SL8. Anyone gone this route and have any comments pro or con? From the look of it you swap out your parts into the Hera lower parts housing and add the stock block. Looks like this:

I have to go negative here... i bought a herra folding stock for my usc... it was pretty cheaply built. The plastic button that held it closed broke and i could not get any support or help from them to get a new button. The stock wouldnt lock closed and was useles to me. Countless emails and phone calls for almost a year. They will never have any of my business ever again.

I have it. I love it. Works great. Fits great. I put a new trigger group in it so I can use both lowers. I would recommend not to do that as it doubles the price. The acr folding stock works great.

Interesting. I have the same stock and find the quality really high. I will have to take a look at the button and maybe make one out of aluminum on my mill if this happens to me.

unlike that conversion the BCK gen2 is aluminum. I have the FSC gen2 for the USC and if the converison for the sl8 is as good I see no issue with it.

I also have the FSC gen2 for the USC and I have BCK Gen 2 on my SL8. Regarding the BCK Gen 2:
Pros:
- Aluminum stronger and resists the rare cracked receiver problem that earlier SL8's were having from the bolt catch.
- Only option in the entire SL8/G36 family to have a metal trigger guard.
- Somewhat helps a bit with the front end weight imbalance.
- Option to change grips.
- Obviously you get rid of the thumbhole stock
- AR or ACR stock of your choice.

Cons:
- $485 !!!
- PITA installing (some areas need fitting)
- Adds weight to an already heavy rifle. (though it improves balance)
- The importer (Gravel) has ended there business with Hera. The last of Hera products were scooped up by Wolverine. Buy everything you want NOW!

Overall Very happy with Hera products. Wouldn't do it any other way for both guns.

My last SL8-4 had a Hera BCK Gen 2 lower and it was great. never had any issues at all and it was really nice with the ACR folder on it.
Even though it's kinda expensive if you consider the cost of the rifle and then add the cost of the lower it's still competitive with the other non restricted black rifles we have access to and it will out shoot all of them so it's reallt not that bad. If I ever get another SL8 I would definitely want one with the Hera lower on it.
