Yes, it is a carbine length rail. Also have mid length.

It looks like the top portion of the rail is clamped to the barrel nut similar to the Troy Industries rail, by using a cap that fits over the bottom of the barrel nut and secured by four screws.

It looks very solid, and would not require removal of the front sight base to mount.
