With the 6.5-20 Vari-xIII, and Leupold rings, I cant wait to see what I can do with it.
I've only fired 7 shots out of it with factory 120 gr ballistic tips, but its load development time.

I just had Dennis (Guntech) Build me a sweeeet long range rig on a single shot 40X action. It has a Krieger 1-8" heavy barrel, and has had all the "tweaking" done to it. Chambering? 260 Ackley Improved 40º. Have now gathered up some brass, and will start fireforming shortly. Pictures soon!! Regards, Eagleye.

DB you didn't take the leap......you got a great big push from yours truely! You see I bought mine first...and DB just couldn't take it. Yes mine is exactly the same but she wears S/S OptiLocks in 30mm for my Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50 LR/T ill TMR. These are truely SWEET rigs, which we expect BIG things from. Those 108 Lapua Scenars are loaded out to mag length and still clear the lands by a good margin. They look like little rockets stuffed with H4350.

Eagleye, I can't wait to see the groups that gun will shoot. Denis does all my work and he is very good.
Regards
John.

thats a beauty rifle at a real good price, should be a great shooter :shotgun:

try some 142 MatchKings or the new Nosler 140 gr Custom Comp HPBT over H4350 or H4831, that should be another great long range load.

I have some 139 gr Scenars loaded for it, but wasnt sure how the 1-9 would handle them, so I figured I'd start with the 108's and go from there...
good advise, I will give em a try for sure...

1-9 twist is iffy for any of those long match bullets from 139 grains up, but they are worth giving a try. Occasionally a slower twist will defy the rules and shoot the longer bullets fairly well at shorter distances, but the wheels generally fall off past 600 yards or so, in my personal experience. Nice rifle BTW! Regards, Eagleye.

Thanks, EE
I agree, and thats why I figured they were worth a try anyways... A box of 100 scenars is the same price as 50 ballistic tips, but I've had a hard time finding the 123 gr scenars, so Chilly picked up a box of 139's, and I went with the 108's. I cant wait to see it stretch its legs...

my 1:9 260 mtn rifle wouldnt shoot the 140 gr Barnes XLC unless it was loaded to the max. anything less than 2650 fps and it would hit the target sideways

Id take a look at the new Sierra 123 gr MatchKing for a nine twist barrel, should work real good.
