Watching the London,Ontario news the other night,seems opening day of deer season a woman decided to have a walk through the bush that had hunters were dogging and blocking deer,well a 63 old hunter ended up accidentally shooting her.I of coarse feel very sorry for her and her family,but jeeze opening day of hunting season is not the time for a stroll through the woods,now the hunter is charger with manslaughter& weapon offences and all the IDIOT anti-hunters are calling for a total ban on all hunting& hunters.I think instead of these news channels jumping on hunting accident stories with a zest,how about they do a public sevice and mention to viewers that hunting season has started ,so please do not go walking through the woods,and if you have too for god sake put on some blaze orange not your brown suede jacket...just my thoughts now that the hunter that make a major mistake is pretty much ruined as firearm ownership, hunting and future life in general go,s
 
I thought I heard something about this story....

Not to point fingers, but when I did my hunter education course in Ontario years ago, one of the big 'rules' was to ALWAYS know what you were shooting at. I'm sure the gentleman in question feels just sick, and will have to live with that mistake for the rest of his life.

And while I agree that opening day wandering around in the bush without being lit up in hunter orange is not a great idea...in the end it is our (we hunters) responsibility to watch out for stuff just like that.

It's a very important reminder to ALL hunters to stay calm, focused, and be ABSOLUTELY SURE of your target and whats behind it.

My prayers really do go out to all involved...

I'd rather let anything get away, than be a part of a tragedy like that. Nuff said.

We don't have a "Blaze" orange law here........thank God.

Regardless of what someone wears NO WAY in heck should anyone be mistaken for a Game animal and shot, PERIOD !

Deer don't wear brown Swede either;)
A $hitty incident for all involved without a doubt............:(

PLEASE be DAM sure of what it is you're about to KILL, Humans and Deer look Nothing alike last time I checked.....regardless of Attire !

And for GOD'S Sake could the last Hunter that Glassed me with His rifle scope Please go by some Friggin Binoculars.........Moron:mad:

Tim I agree with you 100%,my points are that(1) when hunters are in the bush,DON,T assume they are educated and totally safe hunters as they should be(buck fever is a real danger when hunters hunt as a group)(2) when hunting season opens maybe the media should mention that it is opening day so that a non-hunters can atleast know enough that the trail in the bush is not a safe place to walk(3) anti-hunters are IDIOTS and will use this disaster for their terrorist attacks on ethical hunter and hunting in general

I do not argue a case until I know more details, but if it turns out the woman was his ex wife, then....

all these will do is probably bring us a yearly range exam.

How many hunters were in the woods that day?
how many traffic accidents took place in the same timespan proportional with the numbers of participants?..... you'll see that the woods are still a lot safer than the street. I see bad - horrible drivers everyday and there's no media campaign to stop them.

ceases to amaze me when things like this happen.

All I can say is events like these are the ones that fuel the anti's. As hunters we pride our selves on being safe. Unfortunately accidents do not cut it. There is no place for accidents.

It is a sad day for all people affected by this tragedy.
