Seeing the topic, "Airguns", reminded me that I have an old one in my gun safe.

It was a Christmas present for my Dad when he was about 8, circa 1923.

It's a "King Breech Loader NO. 17" by the Markham Air Rifle Co. of Plymouth, MA. Patent 1922.

Still has a pretty good pop to it, too! About 48 years ago, when I was about 7, I managed to knock a robin out of a fruit tree with it at my grandfather's...which, after all my trying, only ended up making me feel like really mean jerk. And that was the end of that...as far as small birds in trees went, I mean! :)

Anyway, thought it might be interesting to share a couple pics of an old one from days long gone by.

This is a true air gun in that it is not intended to launch a projectile, the action itself produces a bang with no restriction of the muzzle.
