My little rancher has a broken hammer spring after less than 100 rds fired. I bought it over a year ago and don't have reciept, so not looking for warranty, just for a replacement spring. No luck. Can't even get through to heritage, the place I bought it told me to contact heritage or find a parts importer.
Only parts importer I can find sells the whole lower assembly for almost $60 usd plus shipping. I just need the spring that's worth about 80 cents.

Getting pretty annoyed. Has anyone else gone through this ordeal, or found a solution?

What kind of spring is it? Flat or coil?
Might be able to make a flat spring out of something or get a coil spring from the hardware store or Gregg’s

Flat, with a loop at one end to anchor it. So far the only option I've found is replacing the entire Backstrap assembly for about $130.
Turns out heritage doesn't sell the springs for the carbine. They sell the spring for the revolver pistol, but the carbine they just sell the whole backstrap assembly. And to buy it imported to Canada it goes from $23 usd to $130 Cdn shipped.

I'm pretty annoyed by this. Literally less than 100 rds through it, no parts available, no dealer support, nothing. Spend almost $600 on cheap parts bin crap, i guess i deserve this. Still annoys the hell out of me.20241217_101316.jpg

$22 USD from Az---tech

Or buy the Standard Backstrap Assembly ($48 USD) - it comes with a hammer spring. Maybe you'd be able to sell the Standard Backstrap (with the hammer spring removed) for more than you paid for it?

Those are for the pistol. Pistol spring won't work in the carbine.

I'd try to make one out of a hacksaw blade or some spring steel of some kind
also I wonder if a spring from say a peitta might work? or a Uberti/Taylors
Marstar sold Peittas when we could get them maybe give them a shout and see if they think the parts are compatible or not

Spent hrs today trying to make one out of a drywall saw blade. Giant fail.

This is good to know. I can get one shipped for about $70. Still seems outrageous, but I guess I don't have another option.
What % is the shipping of the $70? Maybe buy a half dozen and list them to recoup ... I know a buyer who likes to have spares ahead of time.
PITA for sure.

Half, therabouts. I was thinking the same thing, grabbing at least 2 for myself, but maybe sell 1 or 2 also. I doubt this will be the last time it breaks a spring.

Taurus USA referred me to Civil Arms back in June 2024 when I was looking for backups of this spring. Taurus/Heritage does not ship to Canada even from their on line store. I didn't contact them but they look like they are a distributor. https://www.civilarms.com/

now I think I need one because like you less that 100 rds through it and the hammer is sitting at least 1/16" from the firing pin (safety off) and it pushes in by hand then springs back. I was starting to have miss fires last time out in the fall.
