They dont get much love here. But I have a 4x, 36 (iirc) that I bought because it had good eye relief and put it on a 350Rem Mag. Where it sits still in 26mm EAW mounts. It does NOT have a centred reticle and it is A steel tube and heavy but built like a crowbar and absolutely holds zero despite the 350’s ‘snap’ ..... I like my Nickel and would be happy to acquire another.
An 8x, 56 (if with a steel tube) would be a big brute and not exactly a scope you would want on most hunting rifles unless you werent carrying it great distances or snapshooting in heavy brush.
I cant tell you the value BUT my experience with the 4x has been very positive. I dont know if my scope from the late 80’s is nitrogen purged and I seem to recall that they are not waterproof without their turret caps on .... but I have never had any fogging issues at all and have been in some very cold as well as wet conditions (I strongly suspect that most scopes loose their nitrogen after a few months of use anyway)
(it seems to me that Nickel scopes are also popular with and also promoted for airgun field target ... but you may want to verify that.)
BTW — I believe it is a ‘Nickel’ scope by Hertel and Reuss - who also used to make decent binos
to clarify my earlier IIRC ... I ‘know’ I have a Nickel 4x scope —- I just dont recall if its 32 or 36mm obj. Pretty sure its 36 but would have to dig into the safe to confirm
