Looking for my first scope. It will be used on a .22lr rifle and on a Axis .308. I'm looking to start hunting with the latter. It'd be used mostly for target/paper right now up to 200 yards and hopefully hunting.
Budget is small so I'm looking in entry scopes mostly. Been reading reviews but I'm not sure which one would be the best for me.
So far the choices are:
Nikon Prostaff 2 3-9x50mm Nikoplex - 200$
Nikon Prostaff 5 3.5-14x40mm BDC - 350$
Nikon Prostaff 5 4.5-18x40mm BDC - 400$
Nikon Monarch 3 2.5-10x42mm BDC - 400$
Burris Fullfield 4.5-14x42mm - 300$
Nikon Pro Staff 4-12x40mm - 240$
(website doesn't specify which prostaff. Mentions 98% light transmission)
Nikon Monarch 3 6-24X50 BDC (used)- 500$
They're all brand new aside the last one. I'm trying to take advantage of the boxing day sales to try and grab a good deal. I think a higher magnification scope like 14 or 18+ would be better as it seems versatile but I'm not sure. The only one I've seen in person is the Prostaff 2 which seemed nice, the others are mostly online/far.
Any help/opinions?
Cheers and happy holidays guys!
