Well deer season is just about wrapped up and the start of the 2011 season for coyotes will soon start.
Today I got out with my 22-250 Savage Predator Hunter 10 all setup in sighted in and now looking forward on getting out there with it. But now I am tempted to try out the Hevi Shot coyote loads and see what they are all about or is it just 00 buck in a different box?
Anyways just wondering if anyone here has tried it out or know anyone who has and what the thoughts were on it. Worth trying out or not?

# 4 buck for me the 3.5 inch shels i shopt have 48 pellets each a littel bigger then a 22 cal ulet wort ut past 50 yards dutch

use your search engine- there's a whole site DEVOTED to the heavi-shot b/s- personally. i'd use a rifle

I pondered purchasing some Hevi-Shot "Dead Coyote" - till I saw the price ! I ended up just getting some 3.5" Winchester SuperX #4 magnum buckshot. I patterned it at 70yards using a "Kick's" .670 super full choke. On average, 27 of the 54 pellets connected with a coyote sized target.

I'm curious if the more expensive stuff would do better? Are they buffered loads? Different wad type which stings the shot out differently? I'm not ready to buy into the hype...

People use No.4 buck without realizing the pellets weigh 15-20grs each, they're not even close to ".22 size" due to being half or less the weight of a .22 bullet and impacting slower due to brutal ballistics.

00 is perfect for coyote, and heavyshot patterns denser than lead, and has better ballistics due to that density. Too many coyotes have been maimed by puny No.4 buck. If you can call them close enough, use it, but your .22-250's a better tool.

HEY caboose try a more poen choke maybe. Quite often it can produce a better pattern with larger shot. Less pressure applied to the longer shot charges as it bunches into the choke. Just a thought.

This stuff seems to have real good reviews with all a 5 star rating from Cabelas, Bass Pro, and the Hevi-Shot website.
Seems a lot of people also use them for high flying geese as well. They are saying that with the tight group they can take down geese up to 90 yards.
But I think with all the good reviews the price is still a bummer at $38.99 for a box of 10. If I see this stuff on sale I think it would be worth trying out.

I may be old school, but Im also cheap.:;)

#4 buck has always worked out of full choke. # 2 lead also works, hell,.. they all work within their respective ranges.

I would never try shooting @ 90 yards out of a shotgun for anything.

Give the reasonably priced, proven stuffings a try first, if they dont work, then give the dead coyote a try.

Youll prolly find not much difference in the kill, but youll be able to do it twice as often..:D

Shooting geese with them is reckless, it's one thing to throw birdshot in the air at 35 degrees inclination, and a whole 'nother to do it with buckshot. Buckshot's not for birds.

It depends where you're hunting and what your backdrop is, just like any other form of shooting. Although skybusting for geese at 90 yards doesn't personally appeal, it might be perfectly un-reckless for some people under some circumstances.
