If ya cant find the deadcoyote you may be able to find remington hd in BB or T shot it is just as effective as deadcoyote, preaty much the same stuff, price is about the same as the dead coyote.
I have shot both the rem and hevi through the carlsons dead coyote choke with equally good results.
Killed coyotes with both,equally effective.
#4 BUCK does the trick but i like the pattern density of the deadcoyote or rem hd much better.
It is smaller shot so theres alot more in the hull but it penetrates better than 4buck in my testing.
Coyotes that i have shot with the hevi shot both brands have had signifigantly more damage than coyotes i have shot with 4buck.
Were talking broad side passthroughs, completely broken legs and spinal colums and fully penetrated broken skulls,i cant say i have ever had this kind of damage with many different brands of 4 buck.
I can only contribute this to the shot being small but very heavy and hard so it doesent deform like led but instead just keeps plowing through.
On a coyote the dense fur seems to be the biggest factor effecting shot penetration, lead shot tends to deform and ball up in the dense undercoat, not so with the non-deforming heavi shot.
Though it is very expensive i believe heavyshot varieties are the way to go when targeting coyotes with a shot gun.
And lets get real, how many coyotes does the average guy really kill with the shotgun in a given season, for me here in ontario thats usually 10 or less with the shotty,so 40 bucks to shoot ten coyotes isnt much to afford to shoot the best there is.
I do however only use the first shot with dead coyote or rem HD followed by 2 #4 buck in the mag.
Often times a coyote will require a follow up shot so ya break em down with the good stuff and finish em off with the cheap.
